Now there is no money to run government – Amaechi

Abuja – The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday appealed to Nigerians to be patient and give the administration more time to achieve its objectives.
Making the appeal while answering questions at the forum of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Amaechi said:
Rotimi Amaechi
“We encountered challenges; were we expecting to encounter those challenges? yes; did we think that we will meet the quantum or volume of those challenges?
“We didn’t anticipate that things were this bad. We thought you go to government and there would be money for you to run government and others.
“Now you have the situation where there is no money to run government. I hate to use the word difficult; I hate to use the word impossible but we met things close to difficult and impossibility.
“That is why Nigerians are impatient; they want to see results and for them, change is not about change in structure, it is about change in their pocket.
“Because their pocket is getting dried and they wanted us to put some more resources in their pocket.
“Because of the structural changes that we want to put in place is not getting all that they want to get.
“ What I usually say to people is that we beg you to give us time; we will achieve our objective if you give us time and we will both thank God for that opportunity.’’
He gave an assurance that money recovered from the ongoing corruption fight, would be used to provide infrastructure.
According to him, the government has started paying contractors not appointed by the current administration, noting that such action represents service delivery to the people.

My contract with Chocolate City expired two years ago – Ice Prince

Popular rapper, Panshak Zamani, fondly known as Ice Prince, let out a bombshell during the week when he confirmed that he’s no longer signed to Chocolate City Entertainment, the label that spawned his music career. Although fans have been speculating on the status of his contract with the label for a while now, because his latest singles like ‘For Days’ and ‘Seasons’ do not bear the imprint of Choc City, it still came as a rude shock to many. The rapper was a guest on Cool FM’s Midday Oasis, where he revealed that his contract with the label expired two years ago and due to his personal relationship with the label owners, decided not to make it public. He however, made it clear that he still has some working relationship with them. This is even as he released a new single, ‘Chike’ featuring Korede Bello on Thursday.

Ice Prince, who is gearing up for the release of his third album tentatively titled, ‘Jos To The World’, now sits atop his own label, Super Cool Cats, which may soon be signing new acts.

Meanwhile, Ice Prince is the third act to depart Chocolate City in the past six months, following in the steps of Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari, and rapper M.

Kiss Daniel in love with YBNL first lady, Temmie Ovwasa

G-worldwide leading act, Kiss Daniel, has openly declared his affection for YBNL’s first female act, Temmie Ovwasa. The sensational singer, who recently launched his debut album with an album concert, resorted to social media to declare his love for the new YBNL nightingale. Temmie Ovwasa posted an acoustic rendition of Kiss Daniel’s latest single Mama on Instagram, which attracted Kiss Daniel’s attention. Basking in the euphoria of her musical dexterity and possibly physical beauty, a love-struck Kiss Daniel wrote: “I love her so much mehn! Perhaps my first industry crush.”  Who knows, maybe something good will come out of this. Our fingers are crossed and we’re watching.

Adekunle Gold Set To Quit YBNL

Few weeks ago, Olamide’s protégé, Lil Kesh, took a bow out of YBNL record label, to float his own label, YAGI, which is also the title of his newly released album. Shortly after, Olamide signed his first ever female act, Temmie Ovwasa, who has been making buzz on the airwaves with her first single Jabole.

However, after Lil Kesh’s exit, rumor making the rounds is that Orente singer, Adekunle Gold is next in line, as his record deal with YBNL expires anytime soon. Recall that he signed a two-year record deal with the Olamide-led record label, YBNL, just like Lil Kesh, Temmie and Viktoh. So, he may leave to float his own record label rumoured to be called ‘Gold Records’.  Though Adekunle Gold or his management have not made any official statement as to the authenticity of the rumour, but sources close to YBNL’s camp, claim there are speculations that the rumour will find reality as soon as Adekunle Gold drops his debut album sometime in June 2016.

Petrol price increment shows Buhari’s APC govt insensitive to Nigerians’ plight – Fayose

Ado - Ekiti - Ekiti State Governor, Mr
Ayodele Fayose has described the
increment of the unit price of premium
motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known as
petrol from N86.50 to N145, as insensitive
and demonstration of the level of hatred
the President Mohammadu Buhari led All
Progressives Congress (APC) government
had for Nigerians.

The governor, who said the over 70 per
cent increment was another vindication of
his predictions on what to expect in 2016,
added that it was now clear that the
scarcity of petrol being experienced in the
last three months was deliberately
orchestrated by the federal government
to pave way for the already conceived
increment.
According to his Special Assistant on
Public Communications and New Media, Lere
Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “Nigerians
are now left
at the mercy of political liars who took
over power by deception and are governing
by deceit.
He said he was waiting for the reaction of
those who took to the streets to protest
when fuel subsidy was removed by the Dr
Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2012,
urging labour unions in the country to
stand by their members always, not minding
the political
party in government.
He said; “When they were seeking for votes
from Nigerians, they promised to reduce
petrol pump price to from N87 to N45 per
litre, they promised to create three
million jobs per year, they said $1 will be
equal to N1 and above all, they promised
to pay unemployed youths N5, 000 stipend
and provide one meal a day to pupils
nationwide.
“Instead of fulfilling their promises, they
have increased petrol pump price to N145
per litre, increased electricity tariffs,
retrenched thousands of workers and
imposed untold hardships on Nigerians.
“As they did in 2012, if labour leaders do
not also stand up for the people at this
time, posterity will not forgive them. ”

FG removes subsidy, petrol to sell for N145 per litre

The Federal Government has finally
removed subsidy from sale of Premium
Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol
with immediate effect.

NNPC sources yesterday said
marketers are now free to bring in cargoes
and sell, subject to meeting standard
quality control.
It however added that a benchmark of N145
per litre, as a recommended pump price, at
which any trader, irrespective of the
source of foreign exchange used to import
cargo is guaranteed adequate profit.
